An adventure in Italy is simply just not complete without visiting the Leaning Tower of Pisa! This past weekend, eight of my fellow UC students and I took a trip to see the famous tower in the city of Pisa.
The Tower of Pisa was originally built like many bell towers – straight! During its early years of construction, the tower started to lean because of faulty base support, but only one side of the tower was faulty, leading to its lean. Over the decades, it has gotten worse, and engineers have attempted several times to try to straighten the tower out.
Like many places here in Italy, pictures don’t do it justice, but the Leaning Tower of Pisa is infamous for photos of tourists posing and “holding up” the statue. There are classic poses such as the “one-hand hold,” and more comical ones such as the “Karate Kid crane kick.” But of all the poses I saw this weekend, the one that stuck out the most by far was “The Dab.”
