Festa Della Donne: (International) Women’s Day

Ciao!

March 8 is a significant day, and it’s especially noticeable in Italy. March 8 is International Women’s Day. I feel like this year, this day was more important for the world and for women than ever before.

However, this day has always been joyously celebrated in Rome. Festa Della Donne is day where Italians celebrate women throughout the whole city with small festivities. For example, as I was just walking around the city, many random friendly people wished me a “Happy Women’s Day.” People around the city also pass out yellow Mimosa flowers, a traditional symbol of a woman’s strength. In addition, many museums around the city allow free admission for women.

Seeing both women and men dressed in red and walking in the Women’s March near the Colosseum was inspiring.

This day was an amazing and heartwarming experience to have in Italy.

Buon notte!
